Overview

The Audio Visual (AV) Programmer is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, and supporting integrated AV control systems for commercial, corporate, educational, healthcare, and government environments throughout the region. This position develops and deploys AV control solutions, configures and integrates networked AV technologies, and provides technical support to ensure reliable system performance and an exceptional end-user experience. The AV Programmer plays a critical role in delivering innovative, user-friendly, and scalable AV solutions while collaborating with engineering, project management, installation teams, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy AV control system programming for integrated technology environments.
  • Create custom user interfaces, control logic, and automation workflows for AV systems.
  • Program and configure Crestron control systems, touch panels, and associated technologies.
  • Program and configure Q-SYS control and DSP platforms, including Lua scripting where required.
  • Configure and support AMX, Extron, and Biamp control and DSP systems.
  • Develop reusable programming modules, templates, and coding standards to improve project efficiency.
  • Maintain source code repositories, version control, and programming documentation.
  • Configure and integrate AV devices including AV-over-IP platforms, displays, projectors, video walls, PTZ cameras, DSPs, and environmental control systems.
  • Perform onsite and remote commissioning, testing, and validation of AV systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and DSP-related issues.
  • Configure and support Dante audio networks, AV-over-IP solutions, TCP/IP communications, and serial/IP device control.
  • Create and maintain programming documentation, commissioning reports, and end-user training materials.
  • Provide technical support, remote diagnostics, and issue resolution for deployed systems.
  • Conduct end-user training and system handoff sessions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and field technicians throughout project life cycles.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations related to programming and system integration.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and technical risk assessments.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related technical field required;
    Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional AV programming experience.
  • Demonstrated experience programming and commissioning Crestron and Q-SYS systems.
  • Experience with enterprise-level AV environments and integrated control systems.
  • Experience supporting AMX, Extron, and Biamp platforms preferred.
Special Requirements
  • Current Q-SYS certification (Level 1 or Level 2 minimum; Level 3 preferred).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the region as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required to support project schedules and system commissioning activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Crestron SIMPL Windows, SIMPL+, and SIMPL# programming.
  • Proficiency with Q-SYS Designer and Lua scripting.
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) configuration and tuning.
  • Knowledge of AV networking concepts, including TCP/IP, Dante, AV-over-IP, UDP, and REST API integrations.
  • Experience integrating displays, video walls, PTZ cameras, audio DSPs, conferencing technologies, and environmental controls.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, system schematics, and design documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and related software tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
