Manager – Business Development Construction Products
Wesco is inviting applications for the Manager – Business Development Construction Products position.
Base pay range$93,840 – $140,760 per year.
Job DescriptionAs a Manager – Business Development, you will research, analyze, and develop new business opportunities. You will create effective business plans to generate revenue, expand product lines, enter new markets, and improve customer satisfaction. You will monitor business growth and decline and provide solutions to strengthen Wesco’s competitive position in the industry.
Responsibilities- Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities to expand business and increase profitability.
- Retain and expand existing company relationships, product lines, or market segments and solicit new business from prospective customers and suppliers.
- Oversee development and research activities to build on the Company’s strengths, identify potential new markets, and increase market share.
- Establish relationships with potential customers and suppliers, discuss unmet needs or complaints, and arrange meetings with appropriate Wesco representatives.
- Call on existing or prospective customers within the framework of the business development call program.
- Represent Wesco in evaluating and negotiating acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and start-ups.
- Conduct roll‑out meetings at new, key, and global account customer locations.
- Lead, develop, and nurture local implementation teams (LIT).
- Find, calculate, and document cost savings related to direct spend, indirect spend, and value‑add services programs.
- Create and implement account business development activities including product gap identification, account discovery, and One‑Wesco engagement.
- Conduct internal and customer training sessions on account and customer processes.
- Serve as liaison between key suppliers, marketing services, and location operations.
- High School diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred. - 5 years of related experience required; 6+ years preferred.
- 5 years of experience in financial analysis, sales, or negotiation required; 6+ years preferred.
- Knowledge of industry including suppliers, customers, and competitors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong business analysis, financial modeling, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to initiate and develop relationships with key decision makers inside and outside the company.
- Capacity to spot and evaluate new business opportunities quickly.
- Ability to analyze financial and operational data, statements, and projections.
- Ability to identify and cultivate external resources.
- Ability to establish relationships of trust.
- Ability to learn complex technical information quickly.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and simultaneously managing several projects.
- Knowledge of Wesco’s existing business lines, strengths, and challenges preferred.
- Ability to travel 50–75% of the time.
Annual base salary ranges from $93,840 to $140,760. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, education, experience, and other factors. Eligible positions may include bonus or sales incentive plans, commission structures for certain sales roles, and equity or other forms of compensation as part of the total package.
