Store Clerk 1 on-call – Chicago

Location: Chicago, IL, United States (On-site).

Job Schedule: Part time, on-call (including Saturdays and holidays).

Job Summary: This entry‑level clerk position prepares the way of salvation and exaltation by making essential gospel teachings, resources, and services accessible to God’s children. It fosters an environment of reverence and respect, guides customers to make informed product decisions, and provides exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets customers and ascertains their needs.
  • Provides high‑quality customer service and product knowledge to assist customers.
  • Develops understanding of contents and/or properties of all products to adequately serve customers.
  • Responds to customer questions regarding curriculum, proper fitting of clothing or issues of similar complexity.
  • May provide personal fitting consultation to patrons at the distribution store.
  • Prepares merchandise for purchase.
  • Operates a point‑of‑sale terminal, finalizes sale of selected products, and processes returns.
  • May assist the store supervisor to ensure the store is attractively displayed, well presented, and has adequate inventory on the shelf.
  • May assist the store supervisor with inventory and cycle counts.
  • May perform housekeeping duties to ensure facilities, equipment, and storage areas are in good condition.
  • Works as scheduled and needed, including Saturdays and holidays.
  • Assists in other operational responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete internal customer service training within one month of hire.
  • Basic math, reading, computer, and cashiering skills.
  • Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work under direct supervision and follow standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work as scheduled and needed, including Saturdays and holidays.
  • Experience or ability to work in a retail environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, stoop, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Retail sales and/or customer service experience.

Additional Eligibility: Only members of the Church who are worthy of a temple recommend and who are endowed and have a current temple recommend may apply.
