Secondary Firearms Instructor – Part Time
GDIT has an amazing opportunity for a Secondary Firearms Instructor (SFI) to provide world‑class support to our clientele.
As a Secondary Firearms Instructor (SFI), you are the foundation of our overall approach to support. We rely on your professionalism and initiative to keep training environments safe and efficient.
Responsibilities- Supports the Lead Firearms Instructor during Federal Flight Deck Officer requalification sessions.
- Assists in preparation, completion, and post‑session cleanup for all FFDO semi‑annual firearm requalification sessions.
- Ensures student safety during dry‑fire and live‑fire training venues.
- Provides one‑on‑one instruction during the pre‑qualification course of fire and any remedial training as directed.
- Communicates law‑enforcement training concepts to a diverse audience and follows principles of basic adult education.
- Interprets and applies program policies, SOPs, and lesson plans.
- Secures Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information (SPII) in compliance with TSA MD 2100.2;
Privacy and Information Collection Policy; and TSA MD 1400.3.
- Minimum 5 years of formal instruction experience in firearms, defensive tactics/measures, and use of force.
- Current or former certified law‑enforcement official or civilian employee who completed a military, state, county, or municipal firearms training program.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or military experience.
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of security application and background investigation clearance.
This role is performed at indoor or outdoor gun ranges. Employees handle weapons and ammunition, with exposure to high noise levels and gun‑powder. Hearing protection and hand washing after handling ammunition are required. Physical effort may be necessary for handling light equipment and boxes.

The likely hourly rate is $29.84 – $40.38, depending on experience, location, and contract.
Schedule & Location8 scheduled weekly hours – onsite at Glenview, IL.
