Job Description
Position will be held at any approved Colorado Mountain College (CMC) campus and will teach a combination of courses college wide (remotely) and in‑person. Full‑time faculty positions begin in July 2026 with a 30‑credit‑hour load or a combination of credits and reassignment time for college‑wide duties (170‑day contract per Board Policy 4.12).
Primary Responsibilities- Teaching Communication Courses
:
Teach courses such as Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Professional Communication in various modalities—including online, virtual classroom, in‑person, and hybrid. Responsibilities include teaching the assigned load, evaluating courses, assessing student learning, meeting established outcomes, complying with guidelines and policies, maintaining office hours, developing rapport with students, and assisting with advising, orientation, and registration. - Collaborative Support for the Center for Civic Education and Engagement
:
Work with the Center’s President’s Office to design and implement programs that promote civic participation, democracy‑themed education, and civics‑based professional development for faculty. Serve ex officio on the Center’s advisory committee, mentor students in applied projects and clubs, and contribute to strategic planning that strengthens the college’s role as a regional hub for civics education.
- Participate in campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentor peers, assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting, and retention.
- Credentialed to teach in the program or eligible to be credentialed.
- Master’s Degree in Communication, or a Master’s Degree plus at least 18 graduate credits in Communications.
- Minimum of one year full‑time teaching experience (or equivalent 30 credit hours) as an adjunct faculty member; higher‑education teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in a variety of teaching delivery modes: in‑person, hybrid, synchronous online, and asynchronous online.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and collegiality.
- Experience and expertise in political discourse, civics education, designing and implementing coursework, co‑curricular programs, and community programs in democratic and civic participation.
- Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
- Welcoming, innovative, and focused on student success.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
- Submit a letter of interest, resume, three professional references, and transcripts (copies, not official transcripts).
- Transcripts must be included for full‑time faculty consideration.

Salary range: $79,902.51 – $97,321.19 per year, depending on education and experience. Additional Information- Reports to the Dean of the School of the discipline.
- May supervise staff positions and/or student employees.
- Successful completion of a background check and, when applicable, a motor‑vehicle record report is required.
- Position may require travel and evening and/or weekend hours.
- Working conditions include constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; handling objects up to 50 lb; frequent use of computer and standard office equipment.
