Hiring Pay Range:
Nurse I: $54,491.20 - $70,428.80 ($27.64 - $33.86)
Nurse II: $65,811.20 - $80,620.80 ($31.64 - $38.76)

Full Pay Range:
Nurse I: $57,491.20 - $83,366.40 ($27.64 - $40.08)
Nurse II: $65,811.20 - $95,430.40 ($31.64 - $45.88)

SUPERVISION: DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Public Health Nurse I:
This is the entry level position in public health nursing classification series. This position is responsible for performing the more routine tasks and duties assigned. Assignments are generally limited in scope and are performed within a procedural framework.
Public Health Nurse II:
This is the fully competent level classification in this series. Incumbents independently perform the full range of public health nursing services for complex client cases.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Provide comprehensive professional public health nursing services in a variety of office, clinic, and community settings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Public Health Nurse I:

Under close supervision, performs routine public health nursing services for the public in offices, outlying clinics, and community settings.
Participates in Garfield County Public Health activities requiring RN participation and community outreach.
Participates in continuing education offerings.
Reviews all work products to ensure highest level of quality.

Public Health Nurse II:

Under minimal supervision, performs all essential functions of PHN I.
Performs comprehensive public health nursing services for the public in offices, outlying clinics, and community settings.
Represents the department as a health resource person, in community health organizations, programs and activities.
Contributes to preceptorship of professional nursing students as assigned.
Participates in group teaching to client and community groups.
May assist with ordering and maintaining supplies necessary for program area.

Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in nursing from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing.
Experience:
Public Health Nurse I:
Less than one year of nursing experience.
Public Health Nurse II:
Two years of public health nursing experience. BSN required.
Licenses &

Certifications:

Valid driver’s license. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Colorado, CPR certification, and current credentials including continuing and pertinent education in the field of public health nursing.
