Radiation Oncology Nurse

Must have RN Radiation Oncology Work Experience (not Medical Oncology). The Radiation Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse who functions in a collaborative role with the Radiation Oncology Team in providing continuity and quality patient care. The nurse will assess and provide appropriate nursing interventions for the actual or potential problems that the patient may experience related to the disease process, treatment course, and follow up period.

This role emphasizes teaching, counseling, and supportive functions needed to assist the patient and/or family to cope with and adjust to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The R.N. assists in the evaluation and examination of patients with the Radiation Oncologist. This person is the liaison between Radiation Oncology and other hospitals and/or departments as well as physicians groups/offices and other counseling/support groups.

In this setting the Radiation Oncology Nurse will assess and provide appropriate referrals for alternative resources for recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice and nutritional services.

Schedule:

Working 4-10's weekdays.

Education:

RN with current Colorado license in good standing BLS through American Heart Association ACLS through American Heart Association

Experience:

At least 2 years of RN Radiation Oncology experience, not Oncology RN Experience.

Skills:

Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinic environment. Ability to communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team with written and verbal proficiency. Ability to coordinate oncology patient care with other interdisciplinary staff. Flexibility and highly organized Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients of varying age groups, human development stages, and cultural groups. Knowledge of chronic illness and comorbidity management.

Current knowledge of latest trends, skills, procedures, and protocols in hematology/oncology and internal medicine practice Understanding of the latest evidence-based oncology, immunology, pharmacology, community health, and cultural sensitivity information.
