Library Clerk

This position works under the direct supervision of the Library Director to perform a variety of routine clerical and manual tasks circulating and processing library materials and providing services to library patrons. The primary location is the Globe Public Library, where the staff will work with city staff and volunteers to assist in the operations, services, and programs of the library.

• Perform a variety of routine clerical, secretarial and administrative duties.
• Circulate and process library materials.
• Provide services to library patrons.
• Assist in the operations, services, and programs of the library alongside city staff and volunteers.

• High School Diploma or GED certificate.
• One year of experience working with the public, receptionist duties, answering phones, and cashiering. Experience in a library is a plus.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to use a PC computer, typewriter, calculator, telephone, cash register, copy and fax machines.
• Ability to file according to standard library practices (a test may be given).
• Some knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library systems and programs.
• Some knowledge of library circulation or processing techniques.
• Working knowledge of library classification systems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patrons, employees, supervisors, city staff, and the general public.
• Must pass drug test, physical examination and background check.
• Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
• Valid Arizona state driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
