Real Property Title Examiner

The purpose of this position is to convey and maintain correct ownership of real property in the County, update and maintain Taxing Authority Codes and provide Public Record and Sales information.

This position interprets legal descriptions, solves problems and makes corrections, performs data entry and organizes documentation.

Responsibilities include:

• Interpreting legal descriptions and completing relevant documentation to locate, identify and make corrections to data in relation to property parcels.
• Retrieving warranty, joint tenancy, beneficiary, special warranty, quit claim deeds and resolutions, splits and combination deeds from ICRIS computer system.
• Sorting deeds by legal descriptions; verifying accuracy of legal descriptions; checking for information on DOR system; applying parcel numbers to documentation.
• Researching and resolving problems regarding ownership of property and legal descriptions; transferring data for real property to secured tax roll system.
• Preparing and maintaining daily report of documents recorded; organizing, listing and retrieving documents and files, processing splits and combines parcels to corresponding legal descriptions.
• Processing ownership name changes; creating corresponding labels for documents recorded; drafting letters requesting information from property owners, title companies and public agencies.
• Answering incoming telephone calls; responding to questions from the public, title companies and other relevant parties; addressing concerns about appraisals; maintaining complex filing system in relation to Title Examiner activities.
• Providing back up coverage for the front counter; answering questions regarding personal property, mobile homes and exemptions.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
