Youth Development
The position will provide direct support to Cooperative Extension educational programming, including after-school, summer, school-day, and community-based learning opportunities throughout Gila County, working collaboratively with Family, Consumer and Health Sciences (FCHS), 4-H Youth Development, local school districts, libraries, community organizations, and other Extension partners. The Ameri Corps Volunteer will assist with planning, preparing, and delivering engaging educational activities that promote academic enrichment, STEAM, agriculture and natural resources, healthy living, financial literacy, career exploration, leadership development, civic engagement, and life skills.
Programming will be delivered using experiential learning strategies that encourage curiosity, teamwork, problem-solving, and positive youth development. The Ameri Corps Volunteer will serve as a positive role model, encouraging leadership, service, workforce readiness, and lifelong learning while helping increase access to high-quality educational opportunities for youth and families in rural communities. This position requires a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and occasional travel throughout Gila County to support educational programs, community events, and volunteer activities.
Duties
- Preparing lesson materials and supplies.
- Facilitating hands‑on educational activities.
- Mentoring youth.
- Assisting with family engagement events.
- Supporting volunteer recruitment and recognition.
- Coordinating educational resources.
- Helping establish safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environments.
- Assisting with participant recruitment, community outreach, marketing and promotion through newsletters, social media and community events while developing collaborative relationships with schools, community agencies and local partners to expand educational opportunities for youth and families.
