Agriculture Teacher
This position's primary goal will be to guide the learning process toward the achievement of district/CTE curriculum goals within the content area. Individual must possess the ability to establish and communicate clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects. The teacher must use state standards in developing and planning educational activities and lessons.
Specifically, the Agriculture teacher is expected to:
- Teach agriculture classes (may include science based classes)
- Prepare and evaluate teaching schedule, curriculum and teaching calendars and ensure meets local and state standards
- Conduct field trips both in and out of district
- Secure materials for resale to students (i.e.: welding metal, wood, etc.)
- Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials for all classes
- Visit students SAE projects and assist students in keeping SAE records
- Assist students in exhibiting livestock, crops and agricultural mechanic projects at fairs and shows
- Serve as the FFA Advisor
- Assist students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, area, District, state and national levels
- Prepare and train FFA and agriculture contest teams
- Assist students in preparing applications for proficiency awards, state and American Degrees, etc.
- Prepare and track the Agriculture budget Agriculture
- Coordinate, maintain inventories, and keep record of the agriculture resale accounts for classroom and shop supplies.
- Complete and file required reports with the Department of Education.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate (twenty-four semester hours in content area and endorsement, if applicable) for the area(s) and grades specified.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Factors Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of state CTE standards, agriculture programs, the National FFA Organization.
Physical Requirements:
Works standing and moving. May require bending, stairs, lifting of up to 50 pounds. Some desk work. Some driving may be required. Valid Arizona Drivers License is required.
