Essential Functions- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to clinical instruction. Ability to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate office equipment, machines, patients, and materials. Whole-body movement such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, carrying objects and handling materials is required.
- Ability to provide effective assistance in a professional manner to College stakeholders in a variety of Nursing Assistant or Medication Assistant clinical environments requiring critical thinking, organization, and the use of inter-personal and communication skills.

- Performs duties under indirect supervision following procedures, instructions, directions, and training.
- Independent decision making as the supervisor/instructor of clinical students as needed to provide an effective clinical experience for students.
The Nursing Assistant and/or Medication Assistant Clinical Instructor is responsible for providing clinical instruction and supervision to nursing assistant and/or medication assistant students in various healthcare settings. This role involves teaching and evaluating students' clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Act in Arizona, and collaborating with faculty and clinical partners to deliver high-quality nursing education.
Clinical Instruction:
- Provide direct supervision and instruction to students in clinical settings.
- Demonstrate and teach evidence-based clinical procedures and patient care techniques.
- Facilitate student learning primarily through clinical experiences but may also assist with simulations, and labs if needed.
Student Evaluation:
- Assess and evaluate student performance and clinical competencies.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance evaluations.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all clinical activities comply with the Nurse Practice Act in Arizona or other statewide statutes pertaining to nursing assistant and medication assistant programs and institutional policies.
- Promote a safe and ethical learning environment for students and patients.
- Address any issues or concerns related to student performance or patient safety promptly.
- Collaborate with faculty to design and implement clinical learning experiences.
- Integrate evidence-based practices and current nursing and medication assistant program standards into clinical instruction.
- Participate in the development and review of clinical course materials and objectives.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with advancements in nursing and/or medication assistant practice and education.
- Engage in continuous professional development through workshops, conferences, and training.
- Maintain clinical expertise and certifications as required.
- Work closely with nursing and medication assistant faculty, clinical site staff, and healthcare professionals to coordinate student clinical placements.
- Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and program planning activities.
- Foster positive relationships with clinical partners and community healthcare organizations.
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
- Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of Arizona.
- At a minimum, one of the following:
1) successful completion of a three semester credit course on teaching and learning concepts from an accredited post-secondary educational institution,
2) Completion of a 40 continuing education program in adult teaching and learning concepts that was awarded continuing education credit by an accredited organization, or
3) One year of full-time or 1500 hours experience teaching adults as a faculty member of clinical educator, or
4) One year of full-time or 1500 hours experience supervising nursing assistants, either in addition to or concurrent with the one year of experience required below. - BLS/ACLS certification.
- Provide documentation of a minimum of two years full-time (or 3,000 hours) providing direct care as a registered nurse in any setting.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current Nursing Assistant and/or Medication Assistant practices.
- Experience administering medications to residents of a long-term care facility for a minimum of 40 hours.
