The Town of Glocester is seeking a Senior Clerk in the Town Clerk’s Office in Town Hall, 1145 Putnam Pike, Chepachet, RI. The position reports to the Town Clerk, performs computerized and manual clerical functions, and handles walk‑in requests. This position is responsible for assisting the Town Clerk in her capacity as Probate Clerk and Licensing Clerk as well as assisting with all daily clerical and record‑keeping functions of the Department.
It requires the ability to fully follow legislative mandates related to legal processes. Reliability, following all directions, and customer service are important aspects of successful employment. Cross‑training is required as all office functions are shared and employees may be required to perform any function as a secondary or principal task. The position requires the ability to complete the implementation and maintenance of state‑mandated computer databases and procedures.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, reliability and customer‑service orientation, general office experience, fluency in English, proficiency in computerized systems, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). The position pays $28.75 per hour and offers an attractive benefit package that includes medical and dental insurance and participation in the state municipal employees pension plan. Clerks are part of the L.I.U.N.A. Local 1322 bargaining unit.
