GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The teacher works cohesively as a member of a team to develop, implement, and continuously improve a personalized, rigorous, relevant, and collaborative learning environment supported by technology. The teacher aims to prepare students to be globally competitive with 21st Century skills and work habits for success in higher education, careers, and life.

• Actively participate in and support school and classroom functions to meet student learning needs, including:
• Serve as a member of a professional learning community to provide a collaborative, rigorous, relevant, and personalized education supported by technology.
• Implement learning and teaching practices aligned with district and school improvement plans and the mission of the district.
• Create, implement, and support blended learning, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and integration of content areas to increase creativity, higher-order thinking, collaboration, communication, and engagement.
• Align curriculum, instruction, and assessments with standards-based frameworks and consider students’ college and career interests, 21st Century Skills, and relevant practices.
• Collaboratively design and implement performance tasks and both formative and summative assessments aligned to standards and 21st century skills.
• Support high-interest, flexible pathways that lead to college credit and/or industry certifications.
• Disseminate accurate information about school and district goals in print and electronic formats.
• Foster partnerships with parents, educators, businesses, higher education, and communities to support learning inside and outside of school.
• Support efficient, collaborative school operations to promote positive discipline, safety, and learning experiences.
• Create interdisciplinary learning experiences reflecting community and global contexts.
• Design instruction aligned to Rhode Island learning standards and core skills across disciplines.
• Encourage diverse viewpoints and inquiry-based approaches to concepts.
• Use understanding of student interests, background, and experiences to connect content to learning.
• Identify and address barriers to learning and work with specialists to implement appropriate strategies for students with challenges.
