The Department of Budget and Fiscal Services,Treasury Division, is hiring one (1) position at the Accountant Vlevelin Honolulu to support critical financial operations for the City. In this role, you'll perform advanced professional accounting work in areas such as treasury cash management, investments, debt administration, and tax compliance.

You’ll also provide technical expertise related to the City’s Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) and Timeshare Occupancy Tax (TOT) programs while helping ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance. What You Will Do:

• Maintain and reconcile accounting recordsfor treasury cash receipts, disbursements, investments, and debt transactions.
• Set up and maintain debt service ledgers for bonds, bond anticipation notes, and other financing instruments.
• Process and monitor payments of matured bonds and interest obligations to ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
• Prepare financial reports and compliance reports for internal leadership and external agencies, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Internal Revenue Service.
• Review financial data, reconcile accounts, and prepare journal entries and supporting schedules.
• Maysupervise and coordinate the day-to-day work of accounting staff, including Accountant IVs and Senior Account Clerks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or in business administration with courses in accounting. (

Note:

At least 12 semester credits in accounting or auditing courses is needed, six of which must be above the beginning or elementary course level from an accredited four-year college or university).

Substitution:
Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration with courses in accounting.

The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, proper documentation, e.g., a foreign credential evaluation (FCE), must be provided.
