DESCRIPTION

Gloucester Stage’s Apprenticeship Program seeks six young theatre professionals interested in creative ownership, furthering their education, networking, and real world experience with the added support of residence and paid stipend. Designed to be an optimal experience for recent college graduates, we build a strong ensemble in which every member has a voice and plays a role.

Apprentices work on all aspects of each main stage productions alongside industry experts, and are considered professional staff. After a season with Gloucester Stage, apprentices will have the depth of knowledge to form their own companies, seek full time employment with professional theatre companies, or pursue graduate degrees.

We accept apprentices in the following disciplines:

  • Theatre Management & Producing
  • Production / Technical (2 positions available)
  • Marketing & Events
TIME COMMITMENT

Full-Time Employment (May 2026 – October 05, 2026)

COMPENSATION

Weekly stipend of $300 (W-9)

Free Shared Housing in a Historic Manor

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Discipline Area duties (e.g. Marketing, Stage Management, etc.)
  • Tech Week Load Ins and Strikes for each production
  • Front of House shifts in Box Office and Concessions
REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is intended for applicants graduating from a four‑year college/university program, but this is not a requirement. An emphasis in theatre study is preferred. Students returning to campus in the Fall are not encouraged to apply. We are willing to review applicants with special circumstances on a case by case basis.
  • Must be positive, collaborative, hardworking, flexible theatre makers with a deep passion for the work.
  • Weekend and evening availability is a must – this is a short‑term, full‑time program.
  • Having your own transportation is a big plus, but we do coordinate carpooling (we are in beachfront community with little public transportation).
