Expanded hours: Occasionally one evening per month (Monday–Thursday, 4:30 – 7:00 PM) and one Saturday per month
Primary Purpose of PositionNorth Shore Community Health (NSCH) is hiring a full‑time Dental Hygienist. Under the direction of a dentist, the Hygienist promotes optimal dental health by performing preventive care, oral cancer screenings, charting decay and disease, and patient education. Culturally competent care and a sense of humor are required.
OrganizationNSCH provides comprehensive primary care, dental services, behavioral health care, care management, pharmacy services, substance abuse treatment, nurse care management, and insurance enrollment assistance. Services are offered at Gloucester, Peabody, and Salem Family Health Centers and at several school‑based centers in the Salem and Peabody School Districts.

Essential Functions- Provide direct care to patients.
- Review and update medical history at each visit.
- Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatments by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
- Perform oral prophylactic services: clean deposits, scale, polish, root plan, curettage, apply fluoride, and place pit and fissure sealants.
- Conduct oral cancer screening, periodontal probing, and assessment of gingival tissues.
- Document all hygiene services and chart findings in Dentrix.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and plaque control.
- Two years of experience.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Dental Hygiene.
- Licensed in Massachusetts as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
- Local anesthesia certification preferred.
- Proficient with dental equipment, terminology, OSHA, and safety compliance.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Superior customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, professional, and able to multitask.
- Proficient with Dentrix.
- Preferred: bilingual/bicultural individuals who speak Spanish and/or Portuguese.
