Pastoral Support - Alternative Provision
Location: 2300 - Barnwood Park School, Gloucester
Salary: Salary calculated in line with NJC pay scale, points 15-20, £30,024 - £32,597 per annum (£25,892.05 - £28,229.73 per annum pro‑rated).
Contractual hours: 37 Basis Full Time
Job overview: The role is full‑time and supports the smooth running of the Alternative Provision Centre at Barnwood Park School, ensuring students learn without disruption and that behaviour and pastoral expectations are upheld.
Responsibilities- Support the AP Manager with the efficient operation of the Alternative Provision Centre.
- Uphold the school behaviour policy and ensure all students receive the best possible support.
- Collaborate with the pastoral and behaviour team to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Undertake any training organised by the school.
- Operate the centre each day, receiving excluded students in line with the behaviour policy.
- Supervise students in a working environment within the Alternative Provision Centre.
- Assist with booking students into AP and ensure records are kept up to date.
- Monitor and mark students’ work while in AP to a good standard.
- Manage day‑to‑day administrative tasks including registering students, updating class charts, and communicating with parents.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, study and pastoral support for all students.
- Refer any issues to the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour, Head of Year or SENDCo where appropriate.
- Ensure each student receives appropriate study/resource packs for the duration of their time in AP.
- Support restorative conversations and liaise with teachers to ensure follow‑up and restorative conversations occur.
- Provide support with after‑school detentions and successful provision of homework.
- Support main room in AP where necessary and assist with movement breaks as required.
- Deliver short breaks and lunch distribution as required.
- Register specific details on Bromcom/class charts.
