Job DescriptionO'Maley Middle School is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Special Education teacher for our middle school social pragmatic program. This substantially separate program is designed to provide a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment for middle school students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Students flex‑in to the general education setting. Our primary goal is to equip students with the social‑emotional skills, coping strategies, and academic foundation necessary to navigate their emotions effectively, build positive relationships, and achieve academic success, ultimately enabling them to reintegrate into less restrictive educational settings when appropriate.

Mild/Moderate Disabilities
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities within a substantially separate setting utilizing a variety of strategies and accommodations.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team.
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, general education teachers, support staff, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in IEP meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists) to ensure coordinated support for students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and social‑emotional growth.
- Implement positive behavior supports and strategies.
- Stay current on best practices in special education and inclusion.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Special Education Administrator(s).
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid Massachusetts Special Education Teacher License (PreK‑8 or Elementary), moderate disabilities – or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using technology to support instruction and communication.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with the Gloucester Public Schools Teacher’s salary schedule.
Salary Range – $60,150.00 – $.
