Job Description

The Paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher in delivering curriculum, managing the
classroom, and providing direct support to students. This role involves working with students
individually and in small groups, assisting with instructional activities, reinforcing learned concepts, and
helping to maintain a positive and organized learning environment. The paraprofessional supports
the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students.

Job Requirements
  • Responsibilities:
    Provide classroom and educational support services to special education students under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
    Help create and maintain a structured and predictable classroom environment.
    Assist students with self-regulation strategies and coping mechanisms.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma, equivalent, or successful completion of Para Pro test required;
    Associate's degree or higher preferred.
    Experience and/or education working with children with special needs, preferred
    Ability to work cooperatively with classroom teacher(s), school adjustment counselors, and administrators.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a genuine desire to support students with unique needs.
    Track record of professionalism and effective collaboration in the workplace.
    Status: 32.5 Hours Weekly
    Salary:
    Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with the Gloucester Public Schools ESP salary schedule range of $29,355.00 - $35,535.00. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and retirement options.
