Volunteer ESOL Small Group Tutor

Action Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated volunteer who is passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives by serving as a Volunteer ESOL Small Group Tutor with our Education & Training team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Teach a small group of 2-3 adult students who are low-beginner level second language learners. Teach the basic components of English, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
• Identify and develop appropriate curricula and teaching materials to aid students to advance their English skills.
• Monitor and assess students' progress. Communicate with students about their progress.
• Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
• Other duties as assigned and mutually agreed upon.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to relate to and work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Experience teaching English as a second or other language preferred.
• Knowledge of instructional materials and adult education methods preferred.
• Ability to comply with and successfully complete a CORI background check

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
