Civil Engineer - Buildings

Responsibilities

• Assist a principal engineer in preparing drainage strategies, calculations and SuDs reports for planning.
• Prepare plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle (concept through to construction) as part of the buildings team.
• Design earthworks, pavement and drainage and prepare the associated specifications.
• Ensure high quality delivery in design through QA checks.
• Liaise with local authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals.
• Liaise with clients, third‑party bodies and multi‑disciplinary teams on all relevant aspects of projects.
• Assist during construction, including site queries and inspections.
• Opportunity to grow the team and mentor junior engineers.

• Experienced civil engineer, preferably degree qualified and working toward professional qualification.
• Proven experience of delivering commercially successful projects with strong client engagement skills and the ability to influence.
• Experience in coaching and managing junior engineers, as well as collaborating with the wider project delivery team.
• Advantageous experience: chartered status, solid understanding of drainage, pavement design and SuDs, client engagement experience, participation in meetings with third‑party authorities, experience in drainage design, roads, car parks and cut & fill, good communication skills, knowledge of Microdrainage and AutoCAD, experience with PDS and/or Civils 3D.
