Gloucester, MA
You’ll benefit from a supportive work culture that encourages learning, development, and career growth while tackling challenging problems and driving innovative solutions for our customers.
Role OverviewAs a Systems Engineer, you will design, integrate, and optimize complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. Your expertise in systems thinking and problem‑solving is essential as you collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop advanced solutions, write system specifications, analyze requirements, define system architectures, conduct thorough testing, and ensure seamless integration of subsystems. You will also identify and mitigate risks, ensuring our systems meet the highest quality standards and exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot complex problems, conduct Root Cause Analysis, and resolve difficult process engineering issues to improve defectivity; generate internal and external documentation, presentations, and technical reports; interact with customers to resolve issues with limited supervision.
- Coordinate design requirement reviews with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure processing method compatibility; compile and evaluate test data to determine limits and variables for process or material specifications; conceive and plan projects involving new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches for new or improved defect performance.
- Design, perform, collect data, analyze, and compile reports on moderately difficult process engineering experiments; perform hardware characterization on moderately difficult systems; investigate materials/system failures and interpret data.
- Measure materials (particles, film, coating, and bulk) properties and interpret data; identify, select, and work with vendors and suppliers with limited supervision; implement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentation.
- Develop new or modified process formulations, define processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and review processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products; involvement may begin at any step from pilot plant to full‑scale manufacturing.
- Depth and breadth of expertise in materials corrosion/erosion/degradation relevant to semiconductor processes (chemistry and plasma) including ALD/CVD/Etch, coating technology, failure analysis, materials characterization (particles, film, coating, and bulk), plasma and materials interaction, particle transport, flow/thermal/stress modeling, and metal contamination causes and mitigation.
- Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
- Strong problem‑solving skills; determined to isolate root causes; systematic – "systems thinker"; hands‑on.
- Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives; work is guided by functional policies.
- Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
- Master’s degree
- 4–7 years of experience
