Part‑time Certified Medical Assistant at Middlesex Recovery, P.C.
Middlesex Recovery is looking for an organized and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to greet patients, schedule appointments, and collect personal information. The Medical Assistant also takes vital signs, assists practitioners with treatment, and collects lab samples. Success in this role requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a non‑judgmental attitude toward patients with Substance Use Disorder.
- Schedules intake appointments, verifies patient information, and prepares medical records for new and returning patients.
- Checks patients in, escorts them to the waiting room, interviews them, measures vital signs, and records information into electronic charts.
- Assists Medical Director/Program Physician/Nurse Practitioner with patient intakes and as needed.
- Obtains blood specimens and collects non‑blood specimens (e.g., urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examinations and disinfects rooms, equipment, and supplies using germicides.
- Acts as receptionist, performs secretarial duties, and prepares and maintains reports and records.
- Triage/manage questions, phone contacts, and fax messages.
- Files lab results into appropriate binders and distributes results to counselors.
- Attends weekly staff meetings and in‑service trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum age requirement of 18.
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred in the state of employment.
- Phlebotomy skills required.
- CPR/BCLS certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of MS Office and patient management software.
- Ability to establish a positive rapport with patients and demonstrate a non‑judgmental attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder population.
- 1–2 years of prior healthcare experience in a similar environment.
- Satisfactory background and drug screen.
Salary ranges from $16.82 to $25.50 per hour. Compensation will be set based on experience, education, specialty, and training.
