Through genomics-driven research, GMGI advances understanding of marine ecosystems and biodiversity while exploring translational applications that can improve environmental resilience, biotechnology innovation and human health. With our success in establishing a marine sciences research portfolio, GMGI is now poised to expand its research profile with a focus on applied marine science and translational opportunities in complementary areas of research such as immunology, biotechnology, neuroscience, cancer biology, bioinformatics and related fields.

GMGI combines this thriving research institute with an innovative workforce training program – Gloucester Biotechnology Academy – that trains recent high school graduates for successful careers as life sciences lab technicians.

• Ph.D. or equivalent with significant expertise in marine science or adjacent fields such as immunology, biotechnology, neuroscience, cancer biology, and bioinformatics
• Internationally recognized scientific achievement and leadership
• Demonstrated success in securing competitive research funding
• Experience building and mentoring high-performing science teams
