OverviewThe Probation Service is looking for Probation Service Officers to support a caseload of offenders before and after sentence. You will assess and manage risks, provide information to courts, work closely with agencies throughout the justice system, produce reports, and offer practical support to offenders, such as advice about housing, employment and everyday life.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage offenders on probation, including before and after sentence.
- Provide case management support using professional judgement, service procedures and practice directions.
- Produce clear, accurate reports to tight deadlines.
- Work across agencies and courts to deliver evidence and information on offender risk.
- Support offenders with practical advice and active listening to aid successful reintegration.
- Attend to any additional duties arising from statutory or policy guidance.
You do not need a degree; we are looking for people who are empathetic, patient, resilient, and experienced working with individuals who have social or personal difficulties. Good written communication is essential.
Benefits- Competitive entry salary of £28,064 with pro‑rata for part‑time and annual progression through the Competency Based Framework.
