Overview
As a Family Support Worker you will have experience of working with children, young people, families, and communities to deliver a wide range of interventions. Experience of working with multi‑agency assessments and plans is also a must. The role requires you to work flexibly and may include working evenings and weekends.
Key requirements- A full driving licence and willingness to drive.
- DBS clearance.
- Fluent English, as required by the Immigration Act 2016 for a customer‑facing role.
- Right to work for at least 6 months without sponsorship. The council cannot offer sponsorship in this role.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.

- Work in partnership with children, families or carers to provide services aiming to promote positive change and the resilience of children.
- Promote stability of placements, whether at home or in accommodation, through task‑focused time‑limited interventions and direct work.
- Support the reunification of children back home from care settings and facilitate step‑downs from residential care to foster care.
- Offer preventative support where a current assessment indicates family breakdown.
- Respond to the Out of Hours Response Service (ORS) on a rota basis, providing emergency provision within one hour of a request.
- Salary: £33,143 – £36,363 per annum, subject to experience.
- 25.5 days annual leave, rising to 30.5 days after 5 years of continuous service (pro‑rata for part‑time staff).
