Deputy Manager - Residential Childcare

Location:

Gloucester, Gloucestershire, South West England

Salary: £33,000 - £40,000 per annum

Our client, a leading provider of residential childcare services, is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join their team in Gloucester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the effective running of a children’s residential home, ensuring high standards of care and safeguarding for young people.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care to children and young people.
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager during their absence, including managing shifts and decision-making.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of young people through effective care planning.
  • Overseeing staff rotas, supervising team performance, and supporting staff development through supervisions and appraisals.
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including Ofsted requirements.
  • Building positive relationships with families, social workers, and external professionals involved in the young people’s care.
  • Managing risk assessments, incident reports, and maintaining accurate care documentation.
  • Supporting the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of staff members.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Experience in residential childcare, ideally 2-3+ years, with previous supervisory or senior responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, Children's Homes Regulations, and Ofsted standards.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
  • Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (desirable).
