Job Title:
Deputy Manager - Residential Childcare
Location:
Gloucester, Gloucestershire, South West England
Salary: £33,000 - £40,000 per annum

Our client, a leading provider of residential childcare services, is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join their team in Gloucester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the effective running of a children’s residential home, ensuring high standards of care and safeguarding for young people.
Key Responsibilities:- Supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care to children and young people.
- Deputising for the Registered Manager during their absence, including managing shifts and decision-making.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of young people through effective care planning.
- Overseeing staff rotas, supervising team performance, and supporting staff development through supervisions and appraisals.
- Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including Ofsted requirements.
- Building positive relationships with families, social workers, and external professionals involved in the young people’s care.
- Managing risk assessments, incident reports, and maintaining accurate care documentation.
- Supporting the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of staff members.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience in residential childcare, ideally 2-3+ years, with previous supervisory or senior responsibilities.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, Children's Homes Regulations, and Ofsted standards.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (desirable).
- Competitive salary with additional pay for sleep-ins.
