Assistant Driller​/Labourer

Role Description

Arcadis is looking for an Assistant Driller / Site Labourer based from our Gloucester facility. The position involves working throughout the UK, across a range of sites and sectors including manufacturing, petrochemical, and construction environments.

This is an entry‑level role with great promotion potential to become a lead driller. The role requires a person who enjoys working outdoors in varied site environments.

The role requires traveling to sites across the UK during the working week and staying local to the drilling site Monday‑Friday. PPE and accommodation/travel expenses will be provided.

Daily commuting to the depot will also be required; the successful candidate must reside within a reasonable commute from Gloucester.

• Assist the Lead Driller by operating in a two‑person team to complete drilling projects across the UK and occasionally in Europe.
• Drive to the drilling site, set up and advance boreholes, install a range of drilling equipment, collect ground samples, install and monitor equipment, make the site work areas safe, follow H&S procedures, and perform other ad‑hoc duties.
• Receive training from day one to become a competent Assistant Driller and be enrolled in an NVQ upon completion of the probationary period.

In‑house training, apprenticeships, and NVQ programmes in Land Drilling will be available for those wishing to progress further. Arcadis is a National Living Wage employer.

• Motivated, enjoys hands‑on, outdoor work. Experience or education in labour‑intensive roles such as ex‑military, construction, or agriculture is advantageous.
• Valid driving licence is essential.
• Ability to stay away from home Monday‑Friday. Accommodation and travel allowances will be provided.
• Basic IT skills.
• CSCS, SPA/PIA, Personal Track Safety (PTS) or similar are beneficial; required training will be provided if not held.
