Role Description As an Apprentice Engineer at Carrylift Group, you will support the servicing, maintenance, and repair of forklift trucks and related materials handling equipment under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will assist with routine inspections, basic diagnostics, parts replacement, and workshop tasks while learning how to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant engineering work. The role includes maintaining accurate service records, following company procedures, and supporting senior engineers on customer sites when required.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gloucester, offering structured training and development in forklift engineering.

Qualifications

  • Foundational mechanical or electrical aptitude, with an interest in engineering, machinery, or automotive/industrial equipment.
  • Basic understanding of tools, workshop safety, and the ability to follow technical instructions and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving approach, willingness to learn diagnostic methods, and attention to detail in maintenance tasks.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work alongside senior engineers and interact professionally with customers.
  • Good organizational skills, reliability, and a proactive attitude toward completing training and assignments.
  • GCSEs or equivalent in core subjects (such as Math, English, and Science); a relevant vocational qualification or engineering-focused studies are an advantage.
  • Comfort working in workshop and industrial environments, with a commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Valid UK driving license or willingness to work toward obtaining one is beneficial for future field-based work.
