Position: Front Desk Attendant (Part-Time)

J-HAP – Golden Valley, MN

J-HAP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building an inclusive community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can live independently while enjoying meaningful connections, engaging activities, and a strong sense of belonging. We provide programming and support for the residents of Cornerstone Creek Apartments, a unique affordable housing community in Golden Valley.

We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and compassionate Front Desk Attendant to join our team. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, values creating a welcoming environment, and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Position Summary

As the Front Desk Attendant, you will be the first point of contact for tenants, families, visitors, and community partners. You will help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment while assisting with front desk operations and providing excellent customer service.

Schedule
  • Part-Time: 15 hours per week
  • Monday–Friday
  • 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Welcome tenants, visitors, volunteers, and guests as they enter the building.
  • Monitor the front entrance and help maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Receive and log incoming packages and deliveries.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Communicate with office staff regarding tenant needs, visitors, deliveries, or building concerns.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized and professional front desk area.
  • Provide general information and assistance to tenants and visitors.
  • Report emergencies, maintenance concerns, or unusual activity to the appropriate staff.
  • Build positive relationships with tenants while treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized.
  • Comfortable using a computer, phone system, and basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
  • Customer service, receptionist, hospitality, or administrative experience is a plus.
