Perpich Arts High School is seeking a highly motivated long‑term substitute Cinema Arts Instructor for the 2026–2027 school year. This position teaches one 80‑minute Cinema Arts course each quarter (four courses during the school year) between 12:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The instructor will teach digital filmmaking, cinematography, lighting, sound, editing, and visual storytelling; assess student learning; maintain grades in Infinite Campus; communicate with students and families;

collaborate with colleagues; and perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the Minnesota Code of Ethics for Teachers.

The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Visual Arts (with focus in media), or ability to obtain an OFP by August 15th.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media Arts, Cinema Production, or related field.
  • Experience teaching cinema arts or media arts at the high school level.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or related advanced degree.
  • Background as working filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, or media artist.
  • Active creative practice with connections to the professional film/media arts community.
  • Experience with industry-standard productions and post-production software and equipment.
