Perpich Arts High School is seeking a highly motivated long-term substitute Cinema Arts Instructor for the 2026–2027 school year. This position teaches one 80-minute Cinema Arts course each quarter (four courses during the school year) between 12:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The instructor will teach digital filmmaking, cinematography, lighting, sound, editing, and visual storytelling; assess student learning; maintain grades in Infinite Campus;
communicate with students and families; collaborate with colleagues; and perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the Minnesota Code of Ethics for Teachers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Visual Arts (with focus in media), or ability to obtain an OFP by August 15th.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media Arts, Cinema Production, or related field.
- Experience teaching cinema arts or media arts at the high school level.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Positive interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds .
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or related advanced degree.
- Background as working filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, or media artist.
- Active creative practice with connections to the professional film/media arts community.
- Experience with industry-standard productions and post-production software and equipment.
