Job Title: Controller (Accounting Operations, Financial Reporting & Internal Controls)
Schedule: Full-Time, flexible daytime business hours. On-site Monday–Friday with on-call expectations as needed.
Wage: $135,000 annual salary including Full-Time benefits, PTO, and Volunteer Paid Time Off
Position Summary: The Controller is responsible for managing all accounting operations and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal financial controls across the organization. This role focuses on general ledger integrity, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable oversight, audit preparation, and accounting compliance, including coordination with payroll but not ownership of payroll operations strategy. In addition, the Controller ensures financial data accuracy that supports CFO-level strategic decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities- Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Maintain financial records in accordance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Establish and maintain internal accounting controls.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support external audits and prepare required documentation.
- Reconcile payroll-related financial entries with accounting systems.
- Ensure payroll expenses are accurately recorded in financial statements.
- Support payroll audit documentation from a financial reporting perspective.
- Coordinate insurance, tax reporting, and financial documentation processes.
- Identify process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of accounting and financial management experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with audits, reconciliations, and financial systems.
- Preferred: CPA certification.
