Insight Global is seeking a Utility Locator to join a growing Damage Prevention team supporting utility infrastructure projects throughout the Twin Cities metro area. This individual will be responsible for locating and marking underground gas utilities prior to excavation activities using electromagnetic locating equipment. The role is highly field-based and requires someone who enjoys working independently while interacting with homeowners, contractors, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have prior underground utility locating experience, preferably within natural gas systems, and an understanding of utility construction, excavation practices, and underground infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of utility and infrastructure projects while helping ensure safe excavation and regulatory compliance. A company vehicle will be provided.

• Locate and mark underground gas utilities using electromagnetic locating equipment
• Perform field investigations and utility mapping activities
• Read and interpret utility maps, records, and construction documents
• Accurately document utility locations and field observations
• Communicate with homeowners, contractors, excavators, and project teams
• Travel throughout the Twin Cities metro area to complete assigned work
• Work independently to manage daily assignments and schedules
• Support damage prevention and underground utility coordination efforts
• Follow all company safety and compliance standards

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of underground utility locating experience
• Experience locating gas utilities
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work independently in a field environment
• Ability to pass background and drug screening requirements
• 3+ years of gas specific utility locating experience
• Experience with electromagnetic locating equipment
• Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) experience
• Utility mapping experience
• Utility construction or excavation experience
• Experience working for a utility contractor, locating company, or gas utility
• Knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and safe excavation practices
