Experienced Engineering Technician
Seeking an experienced Construction Materials Field Technician to support construction projects throughout the Denver, Colorado area. This role is ideal for a hands‑on professional who enjoys working outdoors, performing field testing, and ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards.
Compensation: $24-32/hour (DOE)
Location: Denver, Colorado
FLSA Exemption: Non‑Exempt
Schedule: Full‑time; hours may vary based on project demands
- Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Conduct field tests on materials including:
- Fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders)
- Soil compaction and density testing
- Aggregate sampling and observation
- Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and data sheets.
- Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams.
- Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2+ years of construction materials testing experience in the field.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
- Experience working on CDOT transportation or public infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO field testing procedures.
- Additional certifications beyond minimum requirements.
- Positive attitude, strong initiative, and customer‑service mindset.
- Desire to grow into advanced testing, inspection, or leadership roles.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- WAQTC In‑Place Density Certification (commonly required for Colorado/CDOT projects)
- WAQTC Embankment & Base
- ACI Strength Testing Technician
- NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt – Level I or II)
- Nuclear Gauge Safety / Radiation Safety Training
Will provide financial assistance for certifications, renewals, PDHs, and continuing education.
