Who are we looking for?

GHD is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to join our Contamination Assessment and Remediation Group and lead delivery of complex environmental programs supporting large‑scale upstream oil and gas operations across North America. This role will operate within a portfolio‑driven delivery model, translating client objectives into coordinated execution across multiple field‑based and regulatory‑driven projects. You will be responsible for managing environmental assessment, remediation, and compliance‑focused work streams associated with active and legacy operational assets.

As a Senior Project Manager
, you will provide oversight across concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with client priorities, regulatory obligations, and program‑level performance targets. This role goes beyond traditional project delivery, requiring active management of risk, stakeholder expectations, and program predictability in dynamic operating environments.

Working with an energetic and high‑performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Initiate and plan projects using disciplined project management practices (scope confirmation, WBS, schedule, risk planning, onboarding).
  • Manage execution and controls: track progress, issues, changes, and dependencies; maintain project records in the project workspace for traceability.
  • Coordinate communications and reporting cadence; maintain deadline control for regulatory and client reporting obligations.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors under defined procedures; ensure work plans and outputs follow required verification pathways.
  • Support digital field data collection and standardized reporting workflows; contribute to dashboards and evidence packs used for program and project visibility.
  • Prepare deliverables and ensure they are ready for check/review and director approval prior to external use.
  • Escalate risks and deviations early using leading indicators and agreed thresholds to support ‘no surprises’ delivery.
  • Close out projects with complete documentation, lessons learned, and handoff as required
What you will bring to the team:
  • Demonstrated project management experience in delivery environments requiring strong compliance and documentation.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk with a structured approach.
  • Strong coordination skills across field/office resources and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; capable of producing and managing recurring reporting deliverables.
  • Background in Upstream field support programs (basin/state regulatory environments) and/or mining closure and waste management programs.
  • Familiarity with structured delivery frameworks that embed assurance (verification, documentation, audit trails) into workflows.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field
  • PE or PG will be highly regarded
  • 8+ years of upstream oil & gas environmental consulting experience including environmental remediation and site assessments, report writing, data management & interpretation, project coordination, and managing clients
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of Colorado regulatory environment; knowledge of other state's regulatory environment a plus
  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel client meetings is required
  • Experience with repeatable, high‑volume programs where standardization and automation are used to improve efficiency
  • Familiarity with analytics dashboards and data management practices that support compliance tracking and decision‑making
