Job Overview
Researcher III – Perovskite Packaging and Reliability (Limited Term – 1 year, renewable pending funding)
Location:
Golden, Colorado Position Type:
Fixed Term, 40 hours per week
The role focuses on the durability and packaging of metal‑halide perovskite photovoltaic technologies, including tandem modules. Responsibilities include developing packaging methods, conducting accelerated stress tests, performing post‑mortem analyses, correlating indoor and field testing, and communicating results internally and through external publications and presentations.
- Develop methods for packaging perovskite solar cells and modules.
- Conduct accelerated stress tests on samples.
- Perform post‑mortem root‑cause analysis to understand failure mechanisms.
- Analyze degradation mechanisms in perovskite modules, focusing on device and packaging materials.
- Correlate indoor testing with field‑testing results for degradation in packaging and device performance.
- Communicate findings to internal stakeholders and through scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Follow Environment, Health & Safety procedures, handle waste properly, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Ph.D. in a relevant field; or
• Master’s Degree and 3+ years of experience; or
• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience. - Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.
Required Qualifications
- Materials characterization skills: SEM, EDS, XPS, XRD, EL, PL related to perovskite module materials.
- Experience packaging perovskite modules, including single‑junctions, 2T and 4T perovskite/Si tandems.
- Ability to interface with multidisciplinary researchers and learn outside one's immediate expertise.
- Demonstrated scientific technical proficiency, application of principles, and leadership in project or team settings.
- Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience working with industry partners.
