Intermediate Civil-Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for transportation-related projects, including slope stabilization, earthworks, foundations, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development.
• Complete field logs of boreholes in both soil and rock during subsurface investigations.
• Perform field inspections and site visits during construction phases.
• Interpret in situ and laboratory test results and instrumentation data.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure quality and technical excellence.
• Support project delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and clients.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as appropriate.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of relevant industry experience, or 3–6 years with a master’s degree.
• Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the USA within 1 year of hire.
• Experience with field investigation techniques such as soil visual‑manual descriptions, rock core logging, SPT sampling, CPT soundings, test pits, and geophysical surveys.
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design principles, including limit equilibrium analysis, ASD and LRFD foundation analysis, and lateral earth pressure and earth retention.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software such as SLOPE/W, Slide2, RSPile, LPile, PLAXIS, or similar.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
