Summary

The Universal Banker serves as the full-service, single point of contact in the branch for South State customers’ financial needs.

• Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to South State Bank Service Standards.
• Understand and communicate the bank’s products and services, including facts, features, benefits, rules, regulations, and fee structures.
• Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues.
• Seek opportunities to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in position goals.
• Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations such as Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
• Develop a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and enroll customers in self‑service options.
• Teller duties:
  • Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Assist in guiding and training new tellers.
  • Allow customer access to safe deposit boxes.
  • Cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits.
  • Sell certified checks and balance transactions daily.
  • Service/balance ATM and utilize the branch capture system.
  • Follow policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain workflow.
  • Adhere to branch security and audit procedures and understand security device operations.
• FSR duties:
  • Open new deposit accounts and understand the bank’s products and financial services.
  • Handle other services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits.
  • Explain policies and procedures to customers, noting most are unfamiliar with them.
  • Resolve customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion.
  • Consider problems and complaints as opportunities to satisfy customers and promote additional services.
  • Show sincere appreciation for each customer’s time and business.
  • Provide a business card if not already given.
  • Ensure branch records, reports, and correspondence resulting from customer development attempts are correct, timely, and properly distributed.

• One year of teller or cash handling experience.
• Six months of customer relationship building or sales experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Teller II and basic FSR job functions.
• Additional responsibilities may include vault or back‑up vault duties.
• Previous banking experience preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers.

The position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation inside a cooled and heated facility. Employees have access to a break room or restroom during breaks.

Travel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed.

Salary range:$38,518.00–$57,778.00, actual offers based on applicant skills, experience, and education. Anticipated deadline for the job posting is 07‑01‑2026; applicants may still be considered beyond this date.
