POST or Patrol Criteria to be considered as a POST Lateral:
Two years of experience as a full-time law enforcement officer (equivalent to a peace officer under CRS 16-2.5-102, 105, 106, 107, 108) on patrol.
Patrol experience includes:
Responding to calls for service, community policing, conducting traffic enforcement including impaired driving enforcement, drafting search warrants and affidavits, making physical, custodial arrests upon probable cause, and conducting proactive law enforcement activity.
POST certifiable applicants will be considered as lateral applicants provided the academy is in good standing with the Colorado POST Board standards.
Out of State applicants will be evaluated by their agency training and the state POST requirements as they compare to the Colorado POST Board.
Out of State applicants must have a CO POST Board provisional certification at time of hire.

JOB DESCRIPTION    Under general supervision, performs general law enforcement work to enforce the laws of the State of Colorado and the County and to safeguard the lives, property and rights of residents of the County. Work requires that the employee cooperate and work closely with investigators, other deputy sheriffs, line supervisors, other law enforcement agencies and the public. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of general law enforcement work.

Reports to a Sergeant.
Work involves responding to complaint calls, investigating crimes, mediating civil disputes, preparing reports and patrolling the County in an official vehicle to deter crime or apprehend violators or suspects, enforcing traffic laws, collecting and submitting evidence related to crimes, and testifying in court.
