- Responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and/or storing procedure trays, surgical trays and equipment.
- Assembles, distributes and/or delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts and supplies to Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments and SCL Clinics.
- Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.
- Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.
- Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items to the floor.
- Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment.
- Properly checks power equipment.
- Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including labeling, use of engraver, reporting and documenting missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.
- Communicates equipment and instrument inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders and/or changes.
- Responds to emergency situations ensuring emergency, trauma and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to Operating Room timely.
- Utilizes applications and technology to facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Provides on the job training to newly hired associates in the department.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to work overtime based on business need.
- May be required to float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on business need.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

- Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service oriented environment.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends.

Schedule Information
- Preferred experience in hospital or clinic operating room.
- Preferred experience in endoscope reprocessing.
