SUMMARY Responsible for implementing, and optimizing secure, high performing enterprise network, wireless, and telephony environments that support district operations and learning. Provide advanced technical leadership in routing, switching, wireless architecture, cloud networking, and network automation, ensuring reliable connectivity across all district sites. Mentor a team of Network Administrators and Specialists, serve as an escalation point for complex issues, and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver resilient and scalable network services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with Network Security Architects and Senior Systems Architects, configure, and maintain enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, VPNs, and core network services.

Lead and support district wide wireless environments, including access points, RF design, WLAN optimization, and large scale deployments.

Maintain and administer telephony and VoIP platforms such as Cisco CUCM, Microsoft Teams Voice, and SIP trunking services.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex network, wireless, and voice issues across multiple platforms, layers, and technologies.

Monitor, assess, and optimize LAN, WAN, WLAN, VoIP, and cloud connected network performance and reliability.

Support hybrid and cloud networking in Azure and AWS, including VPNs, routing, network security groups, and cross platform connectivity.

Implement and manage network security controls, including ACLs, segmentation, zero trust aligned practices, and secure access methods.

Partner with Information Security to support network compliance with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS.

Conduct periodic audits, assessments, remediation efforts, and lifecycle management for network, wireless, and voice systems.

Serve as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, outages, and service impacting events.

Oversee and mentor Network Administrators, providing technical guidance, prioritization support, and skill development.

Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and applications teams to support major initiatives, projects, and district wide technology efforts.

Maintain detailed documentation for network topology, standards, procedures, configurations, and operational workflows.

Support vendor management activities, service delivery expectations, and performance of external suppliers and partners.

Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE 7 years of experience in enterprise network engineering with demonstrated specialization in wireless networking and VoIP/telephony platforms for 3 or more years. Experience with cloud networking and network automation preferred.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree required. Preferred field of study in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS No certifications required. Preferred certifications include: CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, CWNA, Meraki, Mist, ITIL Foundations; or equivalent enterprise experience.

Strong expertise in enterprise routing, switching, and network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, STP, VLANs, and QoS, along with advanced knowledge of wireless architecture, RF environments, and large scale deployments. Skilled in supporting and administering VoIP and telephony platforms including Cisco CUCM and Microsoft Teams Voice. Familiarity with cloud networking in Azure, AWS, or GCP, and experience using automation tools and coding languages such as Python, Ansible, and Git Hub to streamline network operations.
