Job SummaryAs the Manager, Plant Production, you will provide leadership and supervision to plant personnel and maintain direct support to all departments.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing safety inspections, and investigating accidents as required.
- Support development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
- Ensure overall safety performance of the production department by ensuring safety programs and procedures are followed.
- Maintain process quality in accordance with Ball Packaging Operations’ process and quality standards.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of the production function.
- Establish and implement improvements for safety, quality, and cost reduction programs.
- Direct and assist with developmental or experimental production activities.
- Maintain positive relations with local bargaining units, ensuring a high level of productivity when applicable.
- Initiate, review, master, and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the area of responsibility.
- Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
- May be responsible for environmental compliance.
- May be responsible for plant housekeeping.
- Establish and maintain an employee‑relations climate of trust and confidence that discourages third‑party interference and promotes achievement of plant and company goals.
- Build effective work relationships within the department, division, group, and company, handling stress and interpersonal conflicts to maintain a positive work environment.
- Be prepared to work weekends and overtime as required by the regular 5‑day work cycle or on-call duties.
- Maintain awareness of and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental requirements by attending training sessions.
- Communicate with the emergency coordinator (EC) or Environmental Focal Point/Manager (EFP/EM) regarding environmental activities.
- Respond effectively to EC directions during emergencies and implement the required contingency plan.
- Complete and maintain environmental documentation as required and report status to EC, EFP, or EM.
- Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures for safe performance of work assignments.
- Identify waste streams and minimize waste generation through prudent use, disposal, and segregation of materials.
- Comply with environmental regulations for handling hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and wastes.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - 4+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing.
- 4+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting.
- Previous experience in a high‑volume or 24/7 manufacturing setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple demands efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for all personnel levels.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Apply intensive evaluation and modification of standard plant production techniques and procedures.
- Handle sensitive and proprietary information confidentially.
- Perform managerial assignments as directed.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and conduct standards per Ball Corporation manuals.
- Negotiate with customers to promote or sell ideas or concepts.
- Maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
- Understand production principles, practices, nomenclature, procedures, company policies, and quality standards.
- Apply generally accepted managerial practices, business principles, legal practices, and customer expectations.
- Expected Hiring Salary Range: $115,000 – $164,300 (salary determined by education, experience, skills, and internal equity).
