Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge is seeking experienced, adaptable Registered Nurses to join our Emergency Department Float Pool team. As an Emergency Department Float Pool RN, you'll provide essential clinical support where it's needed most while working alongside highly skilled emergency medicine teams at one of Colorado's leading healthcare organizations.

About the Lutheran Emergency Department Float Pool RN Role

As an Emergency Department Float Pool RN at Lutheran Hospital, you'll play a vital role in supporting patient care and staffing needs across emergency care settings. Nurses in this position float to emergency departments and other designated acute care areas based on operational needs, patient volume, and clinical competency.

You'll collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, trauma teams, and interdisciplinary caregivers to provide timely, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care in fast-paced emergency care environments.
  • Perform rapid patient assessments, prioritize care, and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, technicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide care to patients with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and emergency conditions.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with organizational policies and clinical standards.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
  • Adapt quickly to varying workflows, patient volumes, and acuity levels while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.

  • Minimum one (1) year of RN experience.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.

  • BSN is Required. Degree will be verified.

  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Emergency Department, Trauma, Critical Care, or other acute care nursing experience.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.

Note: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.

Compensation & Schedule
  • Full-Time Opportunities Days or Nights Available (Part-Time and PRN Considered)

  • 10% Float Differential for all hours worked in the Lutheran Hospital Emergency Department Float Pool.
