We have a graduate intern researcher position available in the Chemistry and Nanoscience Center to support the fabrication of “tiled” photo electrode architectures to drive photoelectrochemical reactions. As a graduate intern researcher, you ll have the opportunity to work within a diverse, dynamic, multidisciplinary team to enhance your professional skills, while also receiving advanced training from a mentor.
ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a motivated intern to join these efforts as part of a Department of Energy (DOE) Energy funded project. The successful candidate will contribute their expertise in physics, materials science and semiconductor device fabrication. Key responsibilities will include:
- Fabricating tiled thin-film photoelectrodes.
- Collaborating with external research groups.
- Analyzing materials using techniques such as atom probe tomography.
- Contributing to a peer-reviewed publication based on the research findings.
Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Undergraduate:
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Undergraduate:
Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
Graduate:
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Graduate:
Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
Graduate + PhD:
Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.
Required Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in materials science and materials characterization techniques.
- Experience with thin-film device fabrication and/or characterization.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python for data analysis.
- A track record of contributing to peer-reviewed publications.

Salary and BenefitsAnnual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week):
Job Profile: / Annual Salary Range: $51,200 - $81,900. NLR takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
