A Researcher III position is available in NLR’s Materials, Chemical and Computational Science Directorate. The role focuses on the reliability and packaging of metal halide perovskite photovoltaic technologies, including tandems. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal or transition to a regular appointment pending funding and performance.

Primary responsibilities include developing packaging methods, conducting accelerated stress tests, performing post‑mortem root‑cause analysis, and analyzing degradation mechanisms. Complex indoor and field testing results will be correlated to assess packaging materials and device performance. Results will be communicated to internal stakeholders and shared through journal publications and conference presentations.

• Relevant PhD, or relevant Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience, or relevant Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

• Materials characterization skills such as SEM, EDS, XPS, XRD, EL, and PL related to perovskite module materials.
• Significant experience in packaging perovskite modules, including single junctions, 2T and 4T perovskite/Si tandems.
• Ability to interface across disciplines and learn outside area of expertise.

• Complete understanding and wide application of scientific technical procedures, principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
• General knowledge of related disciplines.
• Demonstrated leadership in team, task, or project roles.
• Experience in management of projects.
• Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.

• Experience working with industry partners.

Researcher III / $83,600 – $150,500

Medical, dental, vision, short‑ and long‑term disability, pension, 403(b) savings plan, life and AD&D, PTO, sick leave, holidays, tuition reimbursement. Relocation expense reimbursement may be available. Limited‑term positions are not eligible for long‑term disability or tuition reimbursement.
