Job Overview
The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) in Golden, Colorado, invites applications for a Graduate or Post‑Graduate Internship on the Integrated Modeling and Economic Analysis (IMEA) team within the Strategic Energy Analysis and Decision Science (SEADS) Directorate. The role is a one‑year appointment focusing on critical material production technologies, economic and sustainability analyses, and data collection for the METALLIC project.
Responsibilities- Develop conceptual process designs and conduct economic and sustainability analyses of conversion technologies for critical materials.
- Use life cycle assessment (LCA) methods and access/retrieve data from LCI databases (e.g., US Federal Data Commons, Ecoinvent).
- Collect supply‑chain data and incorporate insights into critical‑mineral and manufacturing‑location analyses.
- Support the METALLIC project enabling activity team over the internship term.
- Currently enrolled full‑time in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program, or graduated within the past 12 months.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Python coding knowledge.
- Experience with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or PRIMO.
- Demonstrated experience in process and design engineering, scale‑up, costing, and TEA methodologies.
- Knowledge of LCI databases and supply‑chain analysis.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical, environmental, mechanical, or process engineering.
