The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) seeks a leader for the Computational Science Center (CSC). The role focuses on scalable algorithms, modeling, and simulation (SAMS). The group, spanning fluid mechanics, computer science, applied mathematics, and simulation science, collaborates with NLR scientists to develop tailored computational solutions.
Responsibilities- Provide vision, strategic planning, and leadership to the SAMS group and CSC.
- Work with other group managers to develop computational strategy aligned with the NLR mission.
- Keep abreast of technological advancements related to scalable algorithms, modeling, and simulation.
- Develop strategic staffing plans and recruit world‑class talent.
- Hold regular team meetings to review priorities, promote cohesion, and provide growth paths.
- Manage budget, performance reviews, and administrative functions for proper execution.
- Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring, training, and other opportunities.

- Bachelor’s Degree in a related research discipline with 9 years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 7 years, or PhD with 4 years; previous management or budget development required.
- Experience in scalable CFD discretization, multiphysics/multiregime fluid modeling, solvers at scale, performance portability, and cross‑domain co‑design.
- Record of scientific accomplishment and programmatic delivery in these areas.
- Leadership ability: set vision, manage multidisciplinary projects, adhere to budgets, optimize resources, secure funding, and develop computational assets.
