Emergency Communications Specialist

Golden, CO. Position type:
Regular full‑time (40 hours per week) on a rotating shift schedule.
As an Emergency Communications Specialist on NLR’s Emergency Management team, you will serve as the primary information conduit between emergency response and the NLR community. You will operate the Central Monitoring Station (CMS), oversee fire and life safety alarms, dispatch responders, monitor security systems, and maintain detailed incident logs and reports.
Shift Schedule- Shift1: 23:00–07:30
- Shift2: 07:00–15:30
- Shift3: 15:00–23:30
- Emergency Response: Receive emergency calls/alarms, dispatch resources, determine appropriate response levels, maintain dispatch logs, produce detailed reports, and evaluate safety matters, utility outages, and support drills.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with staff, management, visitors, vendors, first responders, and subcontractors.
- Collaboration: Provide input for after‑action reviews, identify best practices, and coordinate with internal and external responders.
- Security System Operations: Operate and monitor site security systems (access control, fire/life safety alarms, CCTV, IDS), support investigations, traffic safety, and parking compliance.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience,

* * an associate’s degree (or comparable certification) with 2+ years of relevant experience. - Knowledge of specialized business support functions and applicable software packages.
- Demonstrated project administration skills.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities; ability to remain calm and exercise critical judgment in high‑stress situations.
- Fast, accurate data entry and proficiency with Microsoft
365. - High level of confidentiality in handling emergency and routine matters.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance (including drug screening and background investigation).
- Prior experience as a 911 dispatcher for EMS, fire, police, or other emergency services.
